Here's the second saturday study tips. This is gonna be the last study tips as next week will be the examination day. So we will stops having tips until the exams ends. And good luck for your exam. Study hard and try your best to strive the goal that you always wanted.
How Early Should We Start Preparation?Work backwards from the date of your first paper. You must calculate how much time you will need to effectively cover all the subjects involved. Try to allocate five days for emergencies that may crop up.However, always imagine that the five extra days do not exist. or you may be tempted to procrastinate.
How much time should be allocated to each subject?1.Spread out study on a particular subjectsInstead of cramming the study of a particuar subject, like geography, over a few days,it is better to study just one or two chapters each day over a few days, it is better to study just one or two chapters each day over a longer period of time, say ten days. Spreading the study of a subjects over a few days ensures that your mind has time to digest the information and organise it before moving on to another 'chunk' of information.
2.Plans for daily study session.Remember that in order to achieve the greatest number of high points recall, you should always plan a study session of up to a maximum of two hours. After each study session, wait for at least half an hour before starting another session. Within each study session, always take a break of between two or five minutes. Your study session should be divided into four seperate periods of not more than twent-five minutes each. During each study break, your mind should be as relaxed as possible..
3. Plan for third and fourth revision. You also need to schedule revision times for each subject. Remember that to keep your memory in optimal condition, you have to revise whatever you have learnt in ten minutes,24 hours,a week and a month. The first two revisions(i.ewith ten minutes and 24 hours),are normally done in the study sessions you have already planned for. You only need to make additional study slots for the third and fourth (if necessary) revisions for every subject. I suggest that the fourth revision of a particular subjects ( like physics) can be planned on the day before that particular paper.
Studying during a study sessionAs mentioned earlier,a two-hour study sessions should be sufficient time to cover a subject chapter of average length. For each study
sessions, you should cover the following:
1.Revise the previous day's workIdeally, you should be able to re-create in your mind the entire Mind map based on the chapter you reviewed the day before, without referring to your notes. You must also review the application questions and homework assiggned to that particular chapter.
2.Pratices the application question.Besides ensuring that you have commited all the facts to memory, you must pratise doing all the different application questions related to that chapter. You should then check to ensure that you have used the correct steps to solve each tupe of questions and have the right answer. Eventhough you may already know the answer, you should still pratice doing it. By re-doing the questions, you are installing the knowledge into your level of unconsious competence.
3.Do an overall revisions of today's materialThis should take you no more than ten minutes. Remember that you should always revise when your memory peaks ten minutes after each study period.
